In The Community
As a community service based organization, Northlands reinvests back into our region and uses our expertise, events, and venues to enhance our community’s quality of life—always striving to make our home and Northern Alberta a better place to live, work and do business.
Below are a few of the ways that we support our community through K-Days:
Kids Up Front
As part of our community investment, tickets are donated from many events held on our nearly 160-acre campus to Kids Up Front Edmonton—a fantastic community service organization with a mission of making a difference, one ticket at a time.
We’re proud to work with this incredible organization, which helps underprivileged youth and their families by providing tickets to various arts, sports and entertainment events. Since their inception in 2003, Kids Up Front has provided over $5.8 million in tickets to deserving kids in Edmonton alone.
The Gate Admissions we provide are distributed through our 160 partner agencies and go to children and families that are disadvantaged in our community.
The K-Days parade is designed to celebrate our city’s, province’s and country’s remarkable diversity. Each year we choose an annual Parade Marshal based on a number of criteria including:
- Significant accomplishment by an individual or organization in the year leading up to K-Days
- Recognition of a significant contribution to the Capital Region, province or nation over several years
We provide a donation to the parade marshal’s organization of choice.
Make A Wish Northern Alberta
We’re a proud supporter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and sponsor a child each year. At K-Days make sure you wave to the Make-A-Wish kids as they ride on the Castle float in the mini parade, held onsite at 6 p.m. daily.
Each year, we commit to sponsoring the wish of one child. The Northlands “wish child” also has the opportunity to attend a multitude of events, including K-Days, the Canadian Finals Rodeo and concerts.
We’re proud to support Kiwanis, a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. Through the operation of the giant slide at K-Days, Kiwanis is able to generate funds that help them achieve their mission and make a difference in the lives of children.
In recognition of our military’s contribution to our community and our nation, Friday, July 22 free admission will be offered to all Military and their immediate family members. Gate admission vouchers for the military are available for pick-up at the Military Family Resource Centre at Canadian Forces Base – Edmonton.
Located in the Edmonton EXPO Centre outside of Hall A, participants purchase two balls for $2 ($5 for six balls) to register their hardest shot, kick or throw. All proceeds support local kids sport registrations. Highest scores are recorded and displayed for the duration of the event.
KidSport believes that no kid should be left on the sidelines and all should be given the opportunity to experience the positive benefits of organized sports. KidSport provides support to children in order to remove financial barriers that prevent them from playing—So All Kids Can Play. One in three kids can’t afford the cost of organized sports—let’s help change that!
Milk & Cookie Shack
Located in Kids Town, proceeds from the Milk & Cookie Shack go to support Northlands youth agriculture programs such as 4-H Days at Farmfair International.
Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues
We are pleased to support the efforts of EFCL and the over 150 recognized community leagues in the City of Edmonton. Each community league has access to four K-Days gate admission passes that can used to recognize volunteers in their respective league or help raise funds for community projects and programs.
Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation
Northlands is proud to support the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation by hosting the 3rd Annual Stollery Superstars Party at Northlands Park on Sunday, July 22, 2018. This invitation-only event recognizes kids and youth who have raised money to help kids at the Hospital. The funds support world-class care for Stollery kids and their families from backyards across Alberta.
These generous young fundraisers and their families will be treated to a reception and lunch at Colours Restaurant and receive Ride-All-Day Passes to enjoy the K-Days midway courtesy of Northlands and event co-sponsor, Canadian Western Bank.
