48 Hour Mobile Film Challenge

in partnership with McBain Camera and Panasonic

K-Days and the Edmonton Short Film Festival (ESFF) have partnered together for this unique event helping to teach beginning and emerging filmmakers storytelling and technical techniques for shooting a two minute movie on your smart phone or tablet.

May 4 – Workshop

This FREE event will take place on May 4 at The Kings College 9125 50 St NW, Edmonton. Filmmakers can learn more about how to create a short film using your mobile device. The class is sold out and registration is closed.

July 19 – 21 – Mobile Device Filmmaking Challenge

Registration is mandatory to be part of the challenge – visit here to register. Registered participants will receive preliminary information about the event and then will receive complete details on Friday, July 19, at 6 p.m. This important email will include full contest rules and the secret elements.

July 28 – Screening
Hours: 12:30 – 6:30 p.m. – Film Screening with Q&A sessions with the filmmakers
6:30 – 7 p.m. – Announcement of 48 Hour Challenge winners

Films that have met the criteria for the challenge will be screened at the ESFF @ K-Days Film Fest, tentatively scheduled for Sunday, July 28. Filmmakers who are being screened will receive two passes to K-Days for July 28.

There will be three prizes awarded to the winning filmmakers including:

  • Best film
  • Best marketed film and
  • Best use of secret elements
